HUNTING A SHADOW

Chapter 10

It was 12 0’clock and the cold night air was creeping through the cracks of Danny’s bedroom. He was lying on his bed looking in the sky through a crack in the ceiling. He was staring at the stars thinking of a girl. As he was thinking of this young beautiful woman there was a light knock at the door.

Danny jumped out of his bed and walked over to the door slowly, still daydreaming of this woman. And he got closer the person at the door coughed. It was a woman. As Danny realized it was a women he got to the door faster reached for the handle he tripped and knocked over a shelf. Danny got to his feet. The woman at the door opened the door to check out what the noise was. As she poked her round the door Danny brushed himself and kicked the things on the floor away, looking as if nothing had happened.

The woman’s name was Melissa. She was 24. She had beautiful long wavy brown hair. Her eyes looked like to beautiful shiny brown pearls. Her smile was dazzling, her teeth as white as snow flakes. She looked stunning as she always does.

She looked at Danny and smiled cheekily and giggled. Danny smiled back. She sighed at his smile. He stared at her for a few minutes while she was talking to him. He was daydreaming of her. He loved her beauty. He loved her eyes, her smile and the fact that she was perfect.

She looked at him adoringly. He treasured her and loved her with all his heart. She went over to him and hugged him.
He looked into her eyes deeply, and kissed her on the forehead. He kissed her on the lips and there was a moment of passion.

As they were kissing, Brian and Zach flew into the room and shouted that Mani has gone missing and he had been missing for the past 3 days. Alyssa burst into the room soon after in tears holding a package. It was a square box soaked in a thick red liquid.

Brian grabbed hold of the package and opened it, he looked into it and he threw it to one said and ran out the room throwing up. Danny kicked the package out the room and what rolled out scared the women in the room, it was Mani’s head with his eyes and tongue missing.

Danny kicked the head back into the box and picked it up keeping it far way from the women. He ran down the stairs and out into the alley below. He went over to a grassy patch on the said of a house and started digging. He started digging until there was enough room for the head to fit.

Danny ran back into his bedroom and ran over to comfort Melissa. She seemed traumatized. Danny hugged her tight. Not letting go. She asked if he was ok. He said yes, but deep down he was sad and crushed from one of his best friends had been killed.

He asked her if she was ok. She said yes, now that they were both in each others arms they were safe. She kissed him on the forehead. He leaned her head down and kissed her on the lips. They both smiled. She grabbed hold of him tight. She didn’t let go. He did the same, and both at the same time said they loved each other.

Alyssa ran out the room and didn’t turn back. She left the hunt for The Black Hood. She was now part of the human world. She was all alone, left to the devices of what Cherene or The Black Hood could do to her.
