HUNTING A SHADOW

Chapter 11

Cherene and Michael were out in an alleyway walking towards the city and they heard a noise from behind them. Cherene looked round sharply, edging behind Michael for safety. Michael scanned the alleyway with his eyes. He saw a figure running down the alleyway towards them. It was a young child.

When Cherene saw it was a child she came out from behind Michael and stared. The child went past happily running past kicking a football. Michael and Cherene stepped out the way into the shadows of the alleyway not being seen by the young child.

As they kept walking they reached the end of the alleyway. Michael grabbed Cherene’s arm and told her that she must do a good job today; her life is seriously on the line. He kissed her goodbye and good luck. She kissed him on the cheeks and said not to worry. She will be back.

She walked off into the distance. Michael heart missed a couple of beats, he was concerned for her safety, and there was nothing he could do if she got hurt. He would get angrier and more violent as the days went on if she got hurt.

As Cherene kept walking she looked at the people walking past, they looked tired and distressed. They looked up at her through there hair or over there glasses, as if she was different to them. But what they didn’t know was that she was now different to them in everyway.

Cherene looked ahead of her; she was walking towards a fountain. As she got closer there were figures in the fountain and on the other side. They were big. She recognized one of the figures faces through the gushing water. It was her ex, it was Zach, what she didn’t know was that when she was going out with him he was going out with his fiancée who had died.

She never knew this and still seeked revenge on this man. She got closer; she reached for her belt, and grabbed a 5 inch knife. He turned round and saw her. He saw the knife coming towards him. He dodged the knife. He yelled for the others who were there, Danny, Melissa and Brian. Brian jumped out of the fountain and jumped onto her back. She was hit onto the floor and her head hit onto the concrete floor with so much force to knock her out.

Danny and Brian grabbed her and took her to the alleyway near the headquarters. They threw here in the building in the back entrance. They sat her on a chair and tied her up with everything they had like Copper wire, Blue rope, and duck tape. They gagged her for a while, so they could talk about what they were going to do with her.

Zach told Danny and Brian why she wanted to kill him. He mentioned that he was cheating on her with his fiancée. And she was planning to kill him anyway for his money. So he had to get rid of her. So he ran way to have a new life with a new girlfriend, so to be married. This was the first time he had seen her in years. And it was a shock to both of them. Brian used this time to think about her.

Brian walked over to Cherene and took the gag off. She spat at him. He slapped her in the face. She yelped in pain. He asked her what she knew of The Black Hood, she wouldn’t say anything. She lashed out with her feet. Zach come up behind Cherene and grabbed her feet. He tied her feet to the chair so she was motionless. Only her head could move now. She shouted and swore several times. “Fuck you, your not getting anything out of me. Leave him alone you bastards, he’s only confused”. And what she said next was the biggest mistake she had made of her miserable life. She let out The Black Hoods and her lover’s real name. She yelped out as Brian hit her again, “Leave Michael alone.” Danny, Melissa and Brian all jumped over to her. They asked her of what she knew of him and his whereabouts.

She tried so hard but she gave up, as if her strength and courage was being sucked out. She said that his name was Michael Domily, he lived out the rest of his life in a ruined office block. Zach got this and had already left the room to go find him. Cherene started to cry, Melissa went over to comfort her, she told her that she’s now out of the grip of this deadly man, and that she is one of them. Danny went over to Melissa and started to talk to her, he had to go out.

He had to get this guy. Melissa understood. She kissed him and hugged. She grabbed tighter than ever, knowing that he will be safe in her arms. Never wanting to let go Danny did the same, she started crying, Danny wiped away the tears and kissed her on her forehead then on her lips again. But he had to go. Melissa let go of him and wished him good luck and prayed that he would come home safely, she knew that if she thinks strong enough and believed and loved him enough he will be safe. Brian went over to Cherene and untied her, knowing that she would never be allowed back to Michael was scared and lonely.

Brian took pity on her and went over to her and put his hand on her shoulder. She stopped breathing, she was scared. She turned round and grabbed Brian round the waist and hugged him tightly. He told her it will be ok and he will be back for her, to be with her when he gets back.
She smiled. Knowing she’s made new friends and another new lover and knew that this time it will last forever. Melissa walked over to Cherene and grabbed her hand. They both watched as there lovers went off on a mission which could change everything.
